During a pirate attack the crew will have a limited view on what is happening outside the vessel. The only way to get a clear picture of what is happening and to know if pirates board the vessel is by using CCTV.
CCTV should use both external and internal cameras. External cameras should be fixed on the perimeter of the vessel, particularly vulnerable areas where pirates can board. Internally covert cameras are used that pirates will not be aware of and are placed at key locations including the bridge and entrances to the poop deck door and safe room.
The CCTV monitor and recorder are located in the safe room and an optional monitor can be fitted in the Bridge. The crew will then know IF and WHEN pitates have actually boarded, how many are on-board, what arms they have and where they are located. This together with other measures will help provide better assessment to resolve any situation as quickly and safely as possible.
